Turf Care Services

Better looking lawns built around lasting soil health.

Turf Care That Starts Below the Surface

A lawn that holds up through summer starts with healthy soil, and that’s where St. Louis Ornamental & Turf begins every program. We use an environmentally friendly approach and products that keep your lawn looking healthy longer into the summer. Our ISA-certified team makes sure every application is doing the right job at the right time.

Man Walking Around Fertilizer On Commercial Lawn

The Right Products for Lasting Results

We use slow-release fertilizers and C-20 Organic Soil Conditioner because we’re feeding your soil, not just your grass. Fast-release nitrogen gets your lawn green quickly but doesn’t build the kind of soil that holds up through heat and drought.

Targeted Applications on Every Visit

Our turf program is timed to what your lawn needs at that point in the season, from weed control services in early spring through targeted summer treatments, using selective herbicides that address what’s actually there on your property.

How We Work Smarter

STL OAT’s turf care program starts with a soil sample for all new clients or for clients where pH and nutrient levels have been a problem in the past. Once results are returned we price and recommend any supplemental applications that are needed. Our base program is built around seven timed applications.

Sitting Lawnnmower Between Trees

The STL OAT 7-Step Turf Program

01

Step 1: Late Winter (February/March)

We open the season with C-20 Organic Soil Conditioner to feed your soil’s microbial activity and selective weed control to get ahead early.

02

Step 2: Early Spring (March/April)

Granular fertilizer that contains a season-long crabgrass preventative goes down alongside selective weed control services to set the tone for the growing season.

03

Step 3: Spring (April/May)

Targeted broadleaf weed control services and post-emergent crabgrass treatment go down if needed based on what we find on your lawn.

04

Step 4: Early Summer (June)

Granular fertilizer is paired with grub control to protect your lawn’s root system. We will also spray any weeds as a value- added service, free of charge.

05

Step 5: Mid-Summer (July/August)

Targeted liquid treatment addresses the weeds that push through in summer heat, including nutsedge and grassy weeds.

06

Step 6: Late Summer (August/September)

Our core aeration service opens up the soil so overseeding services establish before winter. We will also overseed, spot renovate, and apply a maintenance dose of C20 and starter fertilizer.

07

Step 7: Fall/Winter (November/December)

A slow-release granular fertilizer sets your lawn’s root system up for a strong spring. We will also apply a weed preventative to minimize the emergence of henbit, chickweed and other early season weeds.

Build a Better Lawn

A healthier lawn needs help from the right program.

Our Program Pays Off Every Season

STL OAT’s turf care services are structured around annual contracts because you should see results worth paying for every season. The program is also designed to get better over time, as your soil responds to an approach built around long-term health rather than fast green-up. Lawns that follow the full program consistently see stronger performance, and by the time a few seasons have passed, the lawn holds up better and needs less work to stay that way.
